Race report: Calderdale Sprint Triathlon

Eleven Trilab athletes, four PBs and a first-ever podium for Becky in the female 40–44s. Perfect conditions, hilly bike, brutal run.

A big turnout of eleven Trilab athletes lined up for the Calderdale Sprint on Sunday. A 400m pool swim, a 20km bike with the climb out of the valley and a 5km run around the park — a proper local test.

Highlights

  • Becky — 3rd in the female 40–44s and a two-minute PB on the bike
  • Tom — first triathlon, finished with the biggest grin of the day
  • Priya — fastest club run split (21:04) despite the hill
  • Jack and Sam — a proper sprint finish for 14th and 15th overall

Coach’s notes

Transitions were the difference for most of us — T1 times ranged from 55 seconds to nearly three minutes. We’ll run a transition practice at the next brick session. Great support on the run from the Trilab cheer squad; thanks to everyone who came down.
